Surrey Board of Trade Teams

The Surrey Board of Trade has a 4-pillar strategic approach as part of its on-going business plan. Each pillar has one or more teams to develop and support programs and services for you, the member. Teams are the lifeblood of the Surrey Board of Trade, providing members with the most effective means of being involved in policy and organizational development. They also extend the networking possibilities members have with other Board members.

To be an effective 'Voice of Business', we rely on the teams to keep us on track. It is this grass roots involvement; that sets us apart from many other business organizations.

As a member, consider volunteering on a team(s) and add your voice on community issues affecting business.

Our four pillars and their teams are:

1. Networking Teams

Education Team - recommends training programs for members by evaluating educational needs. (The Youth Leaders of Today program is also managed by this committee.)

Police Awards - Organizes the annual Police Officer of the Year Awards Dinner

Networking Golf Tournament - Organizes the annual golf tournament

Surrey Business Excellence Awards - Handles nominations and reviews operations in preparation for the awards

2. Advocacy Teams

Transportation and Infrastructure - researches and reports on issues relating to transportation.

Social Policy - guides us on labour, immigration, homelessness and other social issues as they relate to business

Finance and Taxation - identifies and reports on concerns in the fields of finance and taxation

Crime-Justice - provides a forum on issues of justice and crime

International Affairs - guides our efforts on international policy issues, and helps organize the International Trade Dinner

Industry - leads the effort on issues impacting and improving different types of industry (ie intellectual property, spam, identity theft)

Environment and Natural Resources - consider and report on environmental issues, and help organize the annual Environment and Business event.

3. Operational Teams

Governance - helps the Board of Trade with guidance on the organization's internal policies and bylaws

Finance - advises on operational and capital budgets of the Surrey Board of Trade

Nominations- assists with Board nominations, interviews and elections
